Who we are
Brighter is a trading name of Poorly Pet Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17086223, registered office 4 Lomas Road, Sandbach, Cheshire, CW11 3EE. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Questions about your data go to hello@brighterdogs.com.
What we collect
When you order: your name, delivery address, email address, phone number if you give one, and what you bought. Card details are taken by our payment providers at checkout and are never stored by us.
When you create an account: your login details and order history. When you sign up to letters: your email address. When you contact us: whatever you send us. When you browse: the cookies described in the cookie policy.
Why we use it, and the legal basis
To take payment, send your order and run your subscription (performance of a contract). To keep tax and accounting records (legal obligation). To answer your messages, prevent fraud and send service emails about your order (legitimate interests). To send letters and to set non-essential cookies (consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
Who we share it with
Shopify, which hosts the store and processes the checkout. Our payment providers. The courier, for delivery. Our email provider, for letters. A reviews platform, if we invite you to review an order. Each only receives what it needs to do its job. We never sell your data.
Where it is processed
Shopify and some of our providers process data outside the UK. Where that happens it is covered by UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.
How long we keep it
Order records for six years, as HMRC requires. Marketing consent until you withdraw it. Messages for two years. Account details until you close the account.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, take it to another provider, and withdraw consent. Email hello@brighterdogs.com and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page.
